CV

Kerry trained in Theatre, Television and Film at The University of Warwick, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Chelsea College of Art and the National Film and Television School. She is a creative practitioner who has over 30 years experience in all aspects of Theatre Design, as well as designing Exhibitions (most recently buying for a new permanent exhibition at the V&A) and working in Film and Television art departments as Art Director, Production Buyer and Set Decorator (Sid Gentle, UKTV/AMC, BBC, DNA Films, Warp films, CBBC, Steel Mill Films, Shed TV and Channel 4).

In 2023 she was Production Buyer on Ragdoll for Sid Gentle Films and designed ‘Before We Disappear’ a short, interactive film about climate change for Albino Mosquito in Nottingham (written & directed by Richard Ramchurn) and an original, new musical ‘One Kiss’ about Womanhood, written & performed by Lara J. West at Coventry Belgrade Theatre.

She has designed many period (and contemporary) plays in repertory theatre, fringe and on national tours. She has worked at the Swan Theatre (Worcester), Palace Theatre (Westcliff), Leicester Haymarket, the Royal National Theatre, RADA and Trafalgar Studios, London, as well as with wonderful children’s and community theatres such as Polka theatre, Snap, Pop-Up Theatre and London Bubble. Other designs include Tui I Teraz (Hampstead Theatre), The Importance of Being Earnest, Equus, Ghosts, Miss Julie and The Beauty Queen of Leenane (all touring productions for London Classic Theatre).

She has own production company, Anorak Productions, which she hopes to develop further this year. As well as making her own short films, her major collaboration was with  poet Aoife Mannix: a multi-media performance and online space based on poems Aoife wrote about Cancer supported by Arts Council England.

Kerry has also been teaching set design in higher education for 20 years. She recently left her role as Course Leader on BA (Hons) Set Design for Screen and Production Arts for Screen at Wimbledon College of Arts (UAL), where she gained an outstanding teaching award.

She is currently Course Leader & Senior Lecturer on the BA (Hons) Design for Film & Television course at Nottingham Trent University. She has also lectured at the Northern Film School (Leeds Beckett), run set design courses at Wimbledon College of Arts for 14 years and lectured at Goldsmiths University, University of Gloucester, Central St. Martins, Lewisham College and St. Mary’s University, Twickenham.

2016 I attended the Media Production Show, a VR summit in London (supported by the staff development fund) and regular lectures on gaming  at the V&A, such as 2017 ‘Alternate Realities’.

2017 I organised an afternoon of talks and demonstrations by industry professionals at the Tate Exchange, in the Tate Modern on Wednesday March 22 2017 as part of the DMC’s virtual and digital worlds day. In November 2017, I also helped organise a large scale VR day for professionals and students called VRLO (virtual reality London), by digital production studio REWIND at CSM, in collaboration with Wimbledon/ the CCW Digital Maker’s Collective.
